Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Openwise collects, why, and your choices. We collect as little as we can.
What we collect
When you create an account
- Your name (optional), email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in readable form.
- Your websites, widget settings, scan results and payment history.
- Security records: login times and IP addresses for admin accounts, used to protect against misuse.
Visitors to websites that use the widget
- The widget stores the visitor's accessibility settings in their own browser (local storage). These settings are not sent to us.
- We count anonymous events (widget loaded, menu opened, which tool was used) so site owners can see usage. These counts contain no names, emails or IP addresses.
- If a visitor sends feedback through the widget, we store the message they type and the page address.
- If a visitor uses "Simplify text", the selected text is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to create the simpler version. It is not used to train AI models.
Payments
Card and bank details are entered directly with our payment providers, Paddle, our reseller and Merchant of Record. We never see or store your full card number. We keep a record of each payment (plan, amount, date, reference number).
The free checker
When you use the free accessibility checker, we fetch the public page you enter. We don't store the results of anonymous checks.
Why we use it
- To provide the Service: accounts, the widget, scans, analytics and support.
- To send account emails such as sign-up codes, password resets and receipts. We don't send marketing emails without your permission.
- To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse (for example, blocking temporary email addresses and repeated failed logins).
Who we share it with
We never sell your data. We share it only with providers that help us run the Service: our hosting provider (Hostinger, servers in the region we choose), Resend (email delivery), Paddle (payments), and Anthropic (AI text simplification). Each only receives what it needs.

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. See our cookie policy.
How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is active. Widget usage counts are anonymous, and the oldest ones are removed automatically. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete its data within 30 days, except payment records we must keep for tax law.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data at any time by emailing support@openwise.tech. Depending on where you live (for example under India's DPDP Act, the GDPR in Europe or US state laws), you may have further rights, and you can complain to your data protection authority.
Security
We use HTTPS everywhere, hashed passwords, two-factor authentication for admin accounts, rate limiting and daily backups. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you promptly.
Children
The Service is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and email account holders about important changes.
