What Openwise does and does not do

Openwise helps make websites more accessible, but no widget, including Openwise, makes a website fully compliant with the ADA, WCAG, the European Accessibility Act or other laws on its own. Real compliance also needs fixing the website's own code and content. The Openwise scanner shows what to fix; the widget lets visitors adjust the page to their needs. Read more in Do accessibility widgets make your site compliant?

Privacy

  • Visitors' accessibility settings are stored in their own browser, not on our servers.
  • The widget sends only anonymous usage counts (for example, that the menu was opened or a tool was used) so site owners can see usage. No names, emails or IP addresses are stored with these counts.
  • Openwise does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
  • Text is sent to our servers only when a visitor chooses to send feedback or uses the AI "Simplify text" tool.

Full details are in our privacy policy.

Not to be confused with

Openwise is an independent product. It is not affiliated with OpenAccessibility, accessiBe, UserWay, EqualWeb, EnableAll or other accessibility tools with similar names.
