Free website accessibility checker
Test any web page for WCAG 2.2 and ADA accessibility issues in seconds. Get a score out of 100 and clear tips to fix every problem.
What the checker tests
The Openwise checker loads your page in a real browser (so it works with React, Vue, Angular and other JavaScript sites) and runs more than 20 automated checks based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2:
- Images: missing or empty alt text, decorative images, image links without a name
- Color contrast: text that is too light to read (WCAG 1.4.3, at least 4.5:1)
- Forms: inputs without labels, buttons without names
- Structure: page title, language, heading order, a single main landmark
- Links: empty links and vague text like "click here"
- Keyboard and zoom: blocked zoom, positive tabindex, missing skip links
- Media and frames: autoplaying media, iframes without titles
How to read your score
- 90–100: very good. Fix the remaining issues and test with a keyboard and screen reader.
- 50–89: needs work. Start with critical and serious issues; they block people the most.
- Below 50: many visitors with disabilities will struggle. Fix images, contrast and form labels first.
Automated checks find about a third of issues
No automated tool can find every accessibility problem. Things like whether alt text is meaningful or whether a page makes sense with a screen reader need a person to check. Use the results as a starting point, then go through our WCAG 2.2 checklist.
Fix issues faster with the Openwise widget
Add one line of code to give every visitor 47 accessibility tools (bigger text, contrast, dyslexia font, read aloud, reading guide and more), track your score over time and download PDF reports. Start free, no credit card needed.
Frequently asked questions
Is this accessibility checker really free?
Yes. You can check pages for free without an account. A free account lets you save scans and track progress.
Does passing the check make my site ADA compliant?
Not on its own. A high score is a good sign, but compliance also needs manual testing and fixing issues in your code. Read our ADA compliance guide.
Can I check a whole website?
The free checker tests one page at a time. In the dashboard you can scan as many pages as your plan allows each day.
